Decision — Slack Becomes Scientia's First Capture Surface

Decisions already happen in Slack. Scientia's first capture surface is Slack — not because Scientia is a chat product, but because that is where the reasoning gets made and lost.

Most decisions that matter are made in a thread. Someone raises a question, a few people weigh in, a call gets made, and everyone moves on. So when we decided where Scientia should start, the answer was already on the screen in front of every team: Slack.

The decision

Scientia's first capture surface is Slack — the place where decisions already happen, not a new place to work.

Decisions already happen in Slack

Someone raises a question in a channel, a few people weigh in, a call gets made, and everyone moves on. The record of what happened survives in the thread. The reasoning behind the call — the part worth keeping — scrolls away. Slack is the first capture surface because that is where the decision is actually made.

Scientia is the durable decision system

Slack tells you what happened. Scientia remembers what was decided — and why. Inside a thread, Scientia turns a decision into a structured, reviewable record: a Decision Card that captures the question, the reasoning, who owns the call, and what comes next. Those records are reviewable, revisitable, and searchable later, so the "why" outlives the thread.

Not another tool to talk to

Scientia is not a general-purpose chat assistant or thread summarizer. It does not replace Slack and it does not try to be smarter than the room. Adding one more place people have to remember to open would have recreated the exact problem we are trying to solve. Meeting teams where the decision is actually made was the only honest starting point.

Judgment stays human-owned

Scientia captures the call; it does not make it. The reasoning it preserves is the team's, not a recommendation that stands in for the person who decided. Accountability stays where it belongs — with the people who own the decision.

What we're really building

An organization's memory is only as good as the reasoning it keeps. Starting at the surface where decisions are already made is how that memory starts getting built, decision by decision, instead of evaporating one thread at a time.

Scientia for Slack is currently available to approved pilot workspaces. See Scientia for Slack.
